Job summary

Oshkosh AeroTech, an Oshkosh company, is seeking a Senior Mechanic to maintain baggage handling systems and related equipment across airport operations. You will diagnose electrical, mechanical, and control issues, replace components, and support ongoing maintenance programs.

You will work on the airport ramp alongside heavy equipment, requiring adherence to safety standards and effective communication with supervisors. Weekend/holiday shifts are common.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years’ experience in equipment maintenance and maintenance operations.
• Must possess mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, troubleshooting and repair skills for baggage systems.

Responsibilities

• Proficient with Baggage Handling System (BHS) and related equipment, including controls.
• Enter maintenance information accurately into the CMMS system.
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical and control equipment on baggage systems.
• Replace encoders, photo eyes, heads and controllers for BHS equipment.
• Inspect power circuits and wiring and perform repairs or replacements as needed.
• Monitor baggage system operations and data to identify issues and drive corrective actions.
• Oversee reactive, preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance, including emergencies.
• Provide timely updates to Supervisors and Site Manager on critical conditions.
• Perform on-site and scheduled maintenance repairs and provide emergency support.
• Operate equipment such as golf carts, forklifts, and company vehicles as required.
• Read manuals and work orders to perform maintenance and services.
• Support operations by clearing bag jams and ensuring smooth throughput.
• Adhere to safety programs and trainings; perform other duties as assigned.
