Job summary

Texas AirSystems is seeking an experienced senior mechanical project manager to oversee daily operations and installations across HVAC, plumbing, and process piping systems. The role reports to the Operations Manager of the mechanical project execution team.

You will coordinate with general contractors, end-users, and vendors, manage budgets, schedules, and documentation, and drive safety and quality on multiple turnkey projects throughout Texas.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical contracting, project management, or mechanical installation operations.
  • Proven track record leading teams on industrial projects and large equipment packages.

  • Oversee and coordinate installations of Plumbing/HVAC/Process Piping systems including hydronic, DX, VRF, ductwork, FRP, and large equipment rigging.
  • Manage scheduling and budgets for fast-track and long-term projects.
  • Issue technical purchase orders and subcontracts and ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate with customers and negotiate terms.
  • Lead daily operations and oversee subcontractors and vendors.
  • Develop strong relationships with customers, contractors, and end-users.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to safety standards.

Texas Air Systems is seeking an experienced senior mechanical project manager with a strong background in mechanical installations. This individual will report directly to and work daily with the Operations Manager of the mechanical project execution team, overseeing all aspects of daily operations and installations of projects

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Technical Oversight Leadership:
  • Oversee and coordinate installations of Plumbing/HVAC/Process Piping systems. These include but are not limited to hydronic systems, DX and VRF systems, ductwork, FRP installations, and large equipment rigging, plumbing systems, process piping systems, controls, test & balance.
  • Manage scheduling & budgets for both fast-track and long-term projects.
  • Issue technical purchase orders and subcontracts, ensuring compliance and accuracy.
  • Coordination & Negotiate legal terms & conditions of between TAS and our customers
  • Submittals & Coordination dwgs, Close out documents and maintains thorough project documentation in all aspects of delivering a turnkey solution and equipment only sales to GCs and End Users
Operational Excellence:
  • Lead daily operations, making strategic decisions to optimize workflow and project outcomes.
  • Organize and lead subcontractors, equipment deliveries and other vendors related to installations of mechanical project execution
  • Facilitate communication and approvals with business leaders, general contractors, and end-user owners.
Project Management:
  • Manage multiple turnkey industrial projects, commercial, educational and delivering large equipment package sales, primarily for general contractors and direct end-user owners.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.
Customer & Team Engagement:
  • Develop and grow relationships with customers, contractors, project engineers, and manufacturers.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for project-related concerns, implementing corrective actions as needed.


Competencies:

  • Mechanical systems mastery: deep understanding of hydronic systems, DX and VRF, ductwork, FRP, and large equipment rigging.
  • Project controls & documentation: proficient in issuing technical purchase orders, subcontracts, and maintaining comprehensive project documentation.
  • Industrial project experience: demonstrated success managing industrial projects and large equipment package sales.
  • Team leadership: ability to organize, coach, and lead superintendents, engineers, and administrative staff.
  • Scheduling and planning: expertise in managing both fast-track and long-term project schedules
  • Process optimization: ability to streamline workflows and maximize efficiency across multiple projects.
  • Quality & safety focus: commitment to delivering projects to the highest standards of quality and safety.
  • Stakeholder engagement: builds strong relationships with business leaders, general contractors, end-user owners, and internal teams.
  • Clear communication: effectively conveys technical and operational information to diverse audiences.
  • Customer service orientation: dedicated to understanding and meeting client needs.
  • Contract and financial understanding: knowledgeable in contract terms, construction phases, closeouts, and financial implications of project decisions.
  • Market awareness: understands the industrial project landscape, especially in Texas and Colorado, and adapts to opportunities nationwide.

  • Flexibility: willingness to travel occasionally and adapt to evolving business needs.

Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, and/or related field experienced preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of education and relevant industry experience will be considered such as coming through the plumbing, welding and pipe fitting trades.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical contracting, project management, or mechanical installation company operations.
  • Proven track record leading teams in industrial projects, large equipment package sales, and mechanical systems installations (hydronic, DX, VRF, ductwork, FRP).
  • Experience issuing technical purchase orders, subcontracts, and managing project documentation.
  • Prior experience coaching and managing senior project managers, superintendents, engineers, and administrative staff.
  • Familiarity with scheduling (fast-track and long-term), controls integration, and construction phases from contract terms through closeout.
  • Experience working with general contractors, subcontractors and direct end-user owners
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and project management software.
