Job summary

Viasat in Tempe, AZ is seeking a Senior AI&T Engineer to lead the unit and payload EGSE for a spaceflight program. You will own the end-to-end EGSE strategy and translate payload requirements into flight-ready checkout systems.

You will guide architecture across development, qualification and flight builds, collaborate with the design team, and mentor a team to implement test equipment and automated procedures. A strong background in space hardware and satellite EGSE is required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in STE design for space hardware.
• Experience architecting or leading complex test systems for payloads.
• Strong understanding of communications payload and satellite subsystems.
• Hands-on EGSE integration experience.
• Proven ability to lead technical discussions under pressure.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
• U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain EGSE architecture for RF, digital, telemetry, timing and power.
• Translate unit and payload requirements into scalable checkout systems.
• Lead development of hardware, software, harnessing and automation.
• Establish checkout flows from unit -> subsystem -> payload.
• Select/integrate instrumentation; review readiness and certification procedures.
• Support environmental testing and launch operations.
• Lead anomaly investigations and maintain configuration control.
