Job summary

NetApp is seeking a Senior Engineer in its AI BU who will design and build complex, scalable software systems, own technical design ownership, and mentor engineers while expanding influence beyond the team.

You will collaborate with product stakeholders, translate requirements into robust architectures, ensure performance and reliability, and contribute to best practices in observability, testing, and deployment across cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

8+ years hands-on software engineering experience with distributed systems.
Technical lead or design owner on projects or initiatives.
Experience with cloud-native architectures on AWS, Azure or Google Cloud.
Working knowledge of agentic engineering for local/frontier models.
Exposure to distributed storage systems.
Ability to communicate trade-offs and build consensus.

Responsibilities

Serve as tech lead or primary design owner driving a project from design through delivery.
Design and build complex, high-quality software systems with focus on correctness, performance, and maintainability.
Author design docs/RFCs and participate in reviews with adjacent teams.
Write production code and review complex designs and PRs within the team.
Collaborate with managers, tech leads, and product stakeholders to translate requirements into designs.
Mentor engineers and support growth of teammates.
