Job summary
Plaud Inc. is seeking a licensed Patent Agent/Attorney to own the full patent lifecycle for software, algorithms, and AI‑related inventions, coordinating with R&D, outside counsel, and global agencies across US, EU, and China.
You will shape multi‑layered patent portfolios, perform prior art searches, and advise on when to pursue patents vs. trade secrets, all within a hybrid San Francisco office environment with competitive compensation and strong benefits.
Qualifications
- Licensed Patent Agent with 4+ years of experience in drafting and prosecution.
- Draft software and algorithm patents using flowchart-based language.
- Experience with prior art searches and freedom-to-operate analyses.
- Knowledge of prosecution procedures in USPTO, EPO, and CNIPA.
- Fluent in English and Mandarin.
- Familiarity with IP docketing systems.
- Strong technical fluency; able to work with ambiguity.
Responsibilities
- Own the full patent lifecycle for software, algorithms, and AI inventions.
- Coordinate with R&D, outside counsel, and global patent agencies.
- Draft specifications and claims, including flowchart-based structures.
- Conduct prior art searches and prepare analyses to support strategy.
- Determine patent vs. trade secret protection and manage office actions.
