Job summary

Software Engineering Institute (SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University seeks a Senior AI Security Software Engineer to advance AI security and resilience for national cyber capabilities. You will develop ML-based prototypes and tools, collaborating with researchers and customers to translate research into practical security solutions.

You will work on AI red teaming, adversarial ML, and data analysis across large cybersecurity datasets, while applying software engineering best practices and scalable

Qualifications

  • Ten years of experience with BS in CS/ML/Cybersecurity/Statistics, or eight years with MS, or five years with PhD.
  • Understanding of software engineering principles and system design.
  • Experience with containerization and microservices architectures.
  • Travel to various locations to support the SEI’s mission (5%).

Responsibilities

  • Develop ML-based prototypes, tools, and systems for AI security applications.
  • Collaborate with researchers to design and execute experimental AI security solutions.
  • Apply software engineering best practices to build scalable, maintainable systems.
  • Process and analyze large cybersecurity datasets.
  • Support AI red teaming and adversarial machine learning initiatives.
  • Translate research concepts into practical, operational capabilities.
