Job summary

Synack is seeking a senior software engineer to design and shipping AI agents that plan, reason and surface vulnerabilities within sandboxed environments. You’ll own systems end to end, lead reviews and collaborate with security researchers to translate hacking insights into production tooling.

This is a remote US-based role with a strong emphasis on Kubernetes, Docker, Python and Go, plus experience with LLMs, agent frameworks and cost-aware engineering.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience building production systems.
• Strong Python, polyglot codebase; Go knowledge.
• Experience building LLMs and agentic frameworks (RAG).
• Docker, Kubernetes, cloud experience (GCP preferred).
• Testing discipline for microservices, API design, async messaging (Pub/Sub, Kafka).
• Desire to understand how systems get compromised.

Responsibilities

• Build AI agents that automate penetration testing: planning, tool use, reasoning over findings, and acting safely within scope.
• Stand up and run the sandboxed cyber-lab and range infrastructure, containerised on Kubernetes.
• Ship features from ideation through production, including evals, guardrails and monitoring.
• Improve how agents work: prompting, tool orchestration, evaluation, and cost.
• Lead code reviews and design sessions, and help engineers grow.
• Collaborate with security researchers to translate hacking into agent behavior.
