Amazon Science in Bellevue, WA is seeking a Senior Applied Scientist to advance Alexa+ with LLM fine-tuning, alignment, and agentic reasoning. You will drive rigorous experiments, develop novel approaches, and deliver high‑quality models at scale for hundreds of millions of customers worldwide.

You will collaborate across teams, publish results at top venues, and mentor junior scientists while helping shape the technical direction of Alexa AI.

Qualifications

• PhD or MS with substantial research or industry experience in ML/NLP.
• 3+ years hands-on ML/NLP and large language models experience.
• Strong coding skills in Python and ML frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement and evaluate fine-tuning and alignment methods for production.
• Develop agentic systems with planning, tool use and orchestration at scale.
• Build evaluation frameworks capturing real-world conversational quality.
• Translate research advances into customer-facing Alexa capabilities.
• Mentor junior scientists and contribute to hiring.
