Job summary

Duolingo is seeking a Senior AI Research Engineer to join the Video Call team. You will contribute to training diverse ML models, including large-scale neural networks, speech recognition, and text-to-speech systems.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to align outputs with company objectives and help shape strategic product decisions. The role requires leadership, deep ML knowledge, and the ability to mentor engineers while delivering scalable AI solutions that enhance the learning

Qualifications

• Proven experience as an AI research engineer.
• Experience with large language models, multimodal modeling, or speech.
• Strong background in training and fine-tuning large models.
• Advanced degree or equivalent experience in ML/AI.

Responsibilities

• Join a full-stack team of frontend, backend and AI Research engineers.
• Develop and train ML models including large networks, speech and text-to-speech systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align model outputs with company goals.
• Participate in product and business decision making with Language Learning leadership group.
• Stay up-to-date with ML developments and apply them to projects.
• Mentor team members and guide best practices.
• Ensure delivery of high-quality, scalable ML solutions.
