Job summary

Amazon Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE) embeds with enterprise customers to design, build, deploy, and run AI-powered production systems. You will own outcomes end-to-end, from prototype to enterprise deployment, writing production-grade software and shaping reusable architectures.

Lead technical delivery across engagements, define architecture across services, and ensure production readiness with scalable AI systems. Expect 30–50% travel and close collaboration with customer teams.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software language.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture of complex systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or engineering team lead.
• Strong ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences.
• Experience leading AI-enabled production scale projects.
• Bachelor's degree in CS or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical delivery across customer engagements and AI programs.
• Define architecture decisions spanning multiple services and boundaries.
• Align technical approach with long-term customer technology strategy.
• Travel 30–50% for customer engagements.
• Architect and build production AI systems at enterprise scale.
• Design foundational architectures for scalable AI systems.
• Drive clarity where problems and approaches are undefined.
• Define operational standards and production readiness criteria.
• Establish testing and observability for AI systems.
• Scale team effectiveness by defining engineering patterns and mentoring.
• Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption across customers.
• Create accelerators and reusable platforms; feed learnings back to AWS.
