Job summary

Redpanda is seeking an experienced security policy engineer to take the out-of-band enforcement proxy from prototype to production. You will build a two-tier policy model, extend authorization operators, and ensure audited, defensible decisions across a global engineering team.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in software development with live-path authorization or policy enforcement
• Experience with policy-as-code such as Cedar, Rego, XACML or similar
• Understanding of AI agent/LLM failure modes and defenses
• Comfort with adversarial testing mindset for secure systems
• Experience working with globally distributed teams (GitHub/open collaboration)
• Strong verbal and written communication and technical ownership

Responsibilities

• Take the out-of-band policy engine from prototype to production as the guardrail for governed tool calls
• Develop the two-tier policy composition model and authoring experience for policy teams
• Extend policy operators across authorization, data exposure, and semantic gating including deferred-approval flows
• Provide auditable, attributable enforcement records for customers to review
• Maintain adversarial certification harness to back enforcement claims with evidence
• Engage with design-partner customers to align policy engine with real security review needs
• Raise difficult/systemic challenges to management with recommended mitigations
• Participate in strategic discussions to shape product roadmap and team practices
• Monitor progress, assess risks, and communicate contingency plans
