Job summary

Petco Animal Supplies, Inc. seeks a Sr. Engineer, AI Platform Engineering to lead the design, architecture, and deployment of scalable AI infrastructure, foundation models, and generative AI solutions across the organization.

You will collaborate with software, product, and data teams to build robust AI platform capabilities, establish MLOps/LLMOps practices, and mentor engineers while driving scalable, secure pipelines and developer APIs.

Qualifications

• 5+ years hands-on software/platform/AI engineering in production
• Deep expertise in Generative AI concepts incl. LLMs and foundation models
• Experience with model serving, inference optimization, and AI application integration
• Strong cloud experience across major providers and containerized architectures

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end AI architecture and solution design for enterprise-grade platforms
• Design and implement Generative AI capabilities (LLMs, RAG, AI agents)
• Architect efficient model serving and high-throughput inference systems
• Integrate embeddings, vector databases, and cloud AI/ML services into core products
• Establish MLOps/LLMOps practices; build CI/CD pipelines for AI/ML apps
• Develop end-to-end AI platform pipelines emphasizing scalability, security, and reliability
• Mentor engineers; document architectures and operational procedures
• Stay at the forefront of AI tech and experiment with new frameworks and tooling
