Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Senior Lead AI Engineer to build and scale AI/ML systems as part of the IFX team in McLean, VA. You will design, train, and deploy AI components, with emphasis on performance, observability, and scalable infrastructure.

You will work with a broad stack including Kubernetes, Kubeflow pipelines, Ray, and Polars, and you will shape the technical vision and roadmaps, mentoring engineers and collaborating with product managers and researchers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years of AI/ML experience or a Master's with 4+ years.
• 6+ years of Python/Go/Scala/Java programming experience.
• Experience deploying scalable AI/ML solutions on cloud platforms is preferred.
• Ability to lead and mentor engineering teams and influence stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and support ML software components for training and inference.
• Build model orchestration and observability across distributed systems.
• Utilize Open Source and SaaS AI/ML tools (Kubernetes, Kubeflow, Ray, Polars).
• Advance ETL and ML optimization techniques to improve latency and cost.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term ML roadmap at Capital One.
