Job summary

Gotham Technology Group is seeking a Senior AI/.NET Engineer to architect and build cloud-native apps with C#, .NET, and Azure. You will design AI-powered solutions, including agents and RAG-based systems, to automate business workflows across the enterprise.

You will leverage Azure OpenAI, Semantic Kernel, and OpenAI SDKs to ground AI in data, supervise SDLC, and mentor junior developers. Strong Azure experience is required for this senior role.

Qualifications

Job description

The Senior AI/.NET Engineer will architect, develop, and maintain cloud-native applications and AI-powered solutions using C#, .NET, and Microsoft Azure. This role combines senior-level enterprise application development with hands-on design and implementation of AI capabilities, including LLM-powered applications and autonomous AI agents that enhance and automate business workflows.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, design, develop, and maintain robust, scalable, production-grade applications using C#, .NET, .NET Core, and modern application frameworks.
• Design, integrate, and deploy AI-powered applications and agentic solutions that automate tasks, reason over enterprise data, and enhance user workflows.
• Develop AI solutions using Azure OpenAI, Azure AI Services, and modern agent frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Agent Framework, AutoGen, OpenAI SDKs, or Anthropic SDKs.
• Implement Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), prompt engineering, function/tool calling, context management, and vector-based search to ground AI applications in enterprise data.
• Design and implement AI agents capable of planning, invoking tools, maintaining context, and executing multi-step workflows.
• Establish software engineering standards, conduct code reviews, and mentor junior and mid-level developers.
• Partner with business stakeholders, architects, and engineering teams to translate requirements into technical designs, architecture, and delivery roadmaps.
• Integrate security, privacy, governance, evaluation, and responsible AI practices throughout the application and AI development lifecycle.
• Develop and integrate RESTful and SOAP-based services and APIs with enterprise and third-party systems.
• Participate across the full SDLC, including architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, troubleshooting, and documentation.
• Evaluate emerging AI and software development technologies and identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency and business processes.

Required Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on experience developing production applications using C#, .NET, and .NET Core.
• Proven experience building or integrating AI/LLM-based solutions, including prompt engineering, RAG, function/tool calling, and model APIs such as Azure OpenAI or OpenAI.
• Hands-on experience developing AI agents or agentic workflows, including planning, tool execution, context management, and multi-step task orchestration.
• Experience with AI/agent frameworks such as Semantic Kernel, Microsoft Agent Framework, AutoGen, LangChain, or comparable technologies.
• Strong experience developing applications and services within Microsoft Azure, including Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Logic Apps, Key Vault, Storage Accounts, and Azure DevOps.
• Strong experience with Azure SQL and T-SQL, including database design, stored procedures, user-defined functions, security, and performance considerations.
• Familiarity with vector search and data technologies such as Azure AI Search and Cosmos DB.
• Strong understanding of DevOps, CI/CD, Git, branching strategies, and release management.
• Proficiency with Visual Studio and/or VS Code.
• Strong understanding of the complete software development lifecycle, including architecture, design, implementation, testing, deployment, security, and documentation.
• Experience designing and integrating RESTful APIs, web services, and SOAP APIs.
• Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, code reviews, architectural decision-making, and establishment of development best practices.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to quickly evaluate and adopt emerging technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience delivering production-scale AI and agentic solutions supporting real business processes, including document analysis, summarization, intelligent automation, copilots, or workflow orchestration.
• Experience supporting applications, systems, or databases within legal, financial services, or HR environments.
• Experience with modern client-side frameworks such as React.
• Experience supporting legal technology, including document management systems, legal workflows, or onboarding applications.
• Working knowledge of Responsible AI, including model evaluation, guardrails, content safety, monitoring, and AI cost/performance optimization.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
• 4+ years of professional software development experience, with substantial hands-on experience developing production applications with C#/.NET.
• Demonstrated experience delivering or integrating AI/LLM-based solutions strongly preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education, technical training, and professional experience may be considered.
