Job summary

The Foundation's Institute for Disease Modeling (IDM) in Seattle seeks a Senior Officer, Model Frameworks to advance AI-enabled disease modeling software. You will lead across modeling paradigms and ensure reproducibility and scientific credibility.

You will work with IDM researchers and LMIC partners, use CI/CD practices, and help design AI-powered research tools to accelerate policy-relevant insights.

Qualifications

• Typically, 5–8 years in software engineering or research modeling.
• Hands-on experience with generative AI, agent design, and context management.
• Experience with ABM, compartmental, or statistical/ML modeling.
• Proven ability to deliver well-tested code in a CI/CD workflow.
• Able to work independently on multi-week tasks and communicate tradeoffs.

Responsibilities

• Technical execution & AI integration with CI/CD.
• Build, evaluate, and deploy AI-enabled modeling components across paradigms.
• Independently plan and execute work across concurrent projects.
• Structure open-ended modeling problems into tractable components.
• Design AI capabilities to refine research workflows and automate tasks.
• Collaborate with IDM researchers and LMIC partners to accelerate outcomes.
• Model culture and growth; provide technical direction and reviews.
