Job summary

Vanguard is seeking an experienced model risk professional to lead independent validation of AI/ML and generative AI models across the enterprise. You will work with data scientists, developers, model users and tech partners to ensure models are sound, governed, and fit for purpose.

You will evolve Vanguard's model risk framework, contribute to policies, and provide credible challenge while mentoring junior teammates in a hybrid Malvern environment.

Qualifications

• PhD in a quantitative field (CS, Math, Stats, Physics, Engineering) or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of model development or validation experience.
• Experience with AI/ML models and generative AI is required.
• Proficiency in Python and related tooling.
• Understanding of CI/CD and deployment platforms for models.

Responsibilities

• Lead independent validations of generative AI models across the lifecycle.
• Challenge model assumptions, data, testing, and monitoring for risk.
• Ensure compliance with AI standards and governance expectations.
• Deliver high-quality validation reports to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Develop and enhance validation procedures for AI/ML systems.
• Support policy design across model lifecycle.
• Identify emerging risks across AI/ML models and report to leadership.
• Provide coaching to junior team members.
• Participate in special projects.
