Job summary

Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer 5 to advance responsible AI foundations with model training, inference, and orchestration across large-scale systems. You will collaborate with engineers, scientists, and product managers to push state-of-the-art AI capabilities in production.

You will optimize throughput, latency, and cost while ensuring governance, security, and quality across Capital One's AI platforms and services, working in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with 6+ years in AI/ML or Master's with 4+ years in AI/ML.
• Experience programming in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
• Experience building scalable AI systems and production-grade ML pipelines.
• Experience deploying AI on cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, train, test, deploy, and support AI software components (foundation models, inference, agents).
• Leverage Open Source and SaaS AI tools (PyTorch, Huggingface, VectorDBs).
• Invent model optimization techniques to improve performance, cost, and latency.
• Contribute to the technical roadmap for foundational AI systems at Capital One.
