Senior AI Engineer — Pittsburgh, PA Full-Time

As a dynamic and fast-growing startup, we’re looking to build a talented team that’s passionate about pushing the boundaries of technology and making a significant impact. We’re looking for a Software Engineer to join our team and contribute to the creation of impactful software solutions.

Role Overview

As a Senior AI Engineer, you will explore and test the latest developments in AI technology and be responsible for architecting and developing scalable AI solutions that meet the needs of our users. You will also build new machine learning models, including tuning model weights and parameters to improve model performance. You will work with our founding team and other key stakeholders to design new AI systems on our technology roadmap.

Key Responsibilities

• Foundational AI Development: Build an ecosystem that will facilitate AI enabled user applications. Select or build frameworks that enable rapid development of AI models and services. Design and create new models or adapt existing models to solve problems in the engineering simulation landscape.
• Research & Innovation: Incorporate the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to our projects and develop new machine learning models.
• End-to-End Development: Design and implement AI tools, applications and services from prototype to production, ensuring that the AI systems being built are performant, reliable, and aligned with user needs. Ensure robust test coverage and metrics reporting for AI applications.
• Leadership & Mentorship: Establish best practices, foster continuous learning and improvement, and help build a strong AI engineering culture.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the product team, mechanical and software engineers to understand requirements, shape product features, and integrate AI solutions effectively.

Required Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field. Ph.D. is a plus.
• Experience: Minimum of 4 years of experience in AI, data science, or machine learning, with a proven track record of delivering commercial software and experience leading other software engineers.
• Strong software engineering and design skills.
• Experience creating AI agents as well as deploying AI models and services in production environments.
• Prior experience with Natural Language Processing and transforming unstructured text into structured code, queries and data is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, C++, C# or Java. Skilled with AI frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, LangChain, Caffe, Ollama, etc). Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Entrepreneurial Spirit: Ability to thrive in a startup environment, where flexibility, creativity, and initiative are essential. Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to take ownership of key projects. Vision to select the best tools and approaches to quickly deliver product requirements.
