FutureHouse in San Francisco seeks a Senior AI Engineer to lead AI initiatives, educate Fellows, and collaborate with researchers. You will design, build, and deploy AI agents for biology projects across neuroscience, genetics, and more, while mentoring researchers to fluency in AI tools.

The role emphasizes independent work, production-grade software, and multi‑stakeholder coordination, with a strong preference for advanced degrees in science and related fields.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of ML and software engineering experience building production-quality software.
• Strong Python skills and ability to learn new tools quickly.
• Experience with LLMs, AI/ML systems, agent architectures, or AI-enabled apps.
• M.S. in science or equivalent research experience; PhD preferred.
• Ability to work independently and manage multi-stakeholder projects.
• Proven ability to teach, coach, or mentor technical or scientific audiences.
• Strong project management, ability to scope, prioritize, manage dependencies.
• Willingness to learn new scientific domains quickly.

Responsibilities

• Perform cutting-edge research applying AI to biological problems with Fellows and collaborators.
• Teach Fellows to build, adapt, and use AI tools with ongoing coaching.
• Develop and deliver technical instruction, workshops, and curriculum for AI agents and LLM-powered tools.
