Job summary

Capital One is seeking a Sr. Lead AI Engineer for Cambridge, MA to build and scale AI systems.

You will partner with engineers, researchers, and PMs to deliver AI-powered products, including foundation model training, inference, and guardrails, across a broad stack of tools and cloud platforms. You will optimize training and inference for performance, latency, and cost, contribute to the technical vision, and mentor team members while advancing responsible AI practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Computer Science, AI, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related fields with 6+ years AI/ML experience.
• Master's in CS/AI/EE/CE with 4+ years AI/ML experience.
• 6+ years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional team to deliver AI-powered products.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components (training, inference, guardrails, evaluation, governance, observability).
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies (AWS Ultraclusters, Huggingface, VectorDBs, Nemo Guardrails, PyTorch).
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance, latency, cost, throughput.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems at Capital One.
