Job summary

Target is seeking a Sr AI Engineer – Advanced AI to build and deploy AI/ML applications spanning automation and insights across business workflows. You will work closely with data scientists, engineers, product partners and security teams to deliver production-grade AI solutions.

You’ll develop APIs, data pipelines and robust services, ensure reliability and security, and contribute to deployment and monitoring. A strong Python and ML framework background is essential for this role.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on software engineering experience.
• Experience developing AI/ML applications including LLM-powered applications and agentic systems at scale.
• Strong proficiency with Python and AI/ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow).
• Experience with model APIs, prompt orchestration, retrieval-augmented generation, observability tools, cloud platforms, containers or orchestration technologies.
• Understanding of system design, architecture tradeoffs, and production deployment considerations for AI systems.
• Experience building maintainable services, APIs, data pipelines, and CI/CD practices.
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional partners.

Responsibilities

• Build, deploy, and maintain AI/ML applications that support automation and insight across core workflows.
• Write maintainable, well-tested code and support model/framework integration.
• Develop data and application workflows, APIs, and services; contribute to deployment, monitoring, and production support.
• Ensure AI applications are secure, reliable, and aligned with enterprise standards.
• Collaborate with Lead/Principal Engineers to evaluate options and improve reusable patterns.
