Job summary

Affirm is building its own bank and this Senior Software Engineer role sits in the engineering team that runs it. You’ll ship core banking systems, data platform, and AI-enabled tooling on a small, autonomous squad, with exposure to bank leadership and a path to impact the deposit product and card issuing.

As a Senior IC you’ll own end-to-end bank systems, drive reliability, vendor integrations, and AI-assisted development, while mentoring peers and helping scale the team.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of software engineering experience with ownership through launch and operations.
• Experience designing and operating cloud-based systems in regulated environments.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams including Compliance and Risk.

Responsibilities

• Own bank systems end-to-end: cloud infra, data platform, workflows, and CI/CD.
• Develop and ship AI-first capabilities to improve code quality and velocity.
• Manage vendor integrations and audit-facing documentation.
• Ensure monitoring, runbooks, and incident response are in place.
• Communicate strategy and tradeoffs to executives and non-engineers.
• Mentor peers and grow engineering practices as the team scales.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit from day one.
