Job Description Vertex is seeking a highly skilled Senior Azure DevSecOps Engineer to design, implement, secure, and optimize cloud platforms that power enterprise software, data, and AI-driven solutions.

This role will be a key technical contributor supporting VaiDA and other strategic initiatives built on Microsoft Azure, Microsoft Foundry, and related cloud technologies.

Working closely with software engineers, cloud architects, information security teams, and business stakeholders, this individual will drive the adoption of DevSecOps best practices, cloud automation, infrastructure as code, and secure software delivery pipelines.

The ideal candidate combines deep Azure expertise with a strong security mindset and a passion for building scalable, resilient, and highly automated platforms.

Key Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, implement, and manage secure, scalable Azure cloud infrastructure supporting enterprise applications, data platforms, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Build, enhance, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to improve software delivery speed, reliability, quality, and security.
  • Embed security controls throughout the software development lifecycle through DevSecOps practices, automated security scanning, policy enforcement, and compliance monitoring.
  • Develop and maintain infrastructure as code solutions using Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or similar technologies.
  • Partner with Information Security teams to implement and continuously improve identity management, secrets management, vulnerability management, network security, and cloud governance controls.
  • Support and enhance Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI, and related Azure platform services used to develop and deploy AI-powered applications and agents.
  • Establish platform engineering standards, deployment guardrails, and reusable automation patterns that enable secure self-service capabilities for engineering teams.
  • Implement observability, monitoring, logging, alerting, and operational excellence practices to improve platform reliability and performance.
  • Lead troubleshooting and root cause analysis efforts for complex cloud infrastructure, deployment, and security issues.
  • Collaborate with software engineering teams to modernize application deployment architectures and promote cloud-native engineering practices.
  • Evaluate and implement emerging Azure and security technologies to improve platform capabilities and reduce operational risk.
  • Mentor engineers and promote DevSecOps and cloud security best practices across the organization.
Knowledge and Skills

Deep expertise with Microsoft Azure cloud services and enterprise-scale cloud operations. Strong experience with Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, CI/CD automation, and release management. Expertise in infrastructure as code, including Terraform, Bicep, ARM templates, or equivalent technologies. Strong understanding of cloud security principles, including Zero Trust, Identity and Access Management (IAM), Privileged Access Management (PAM), secrets management, encryption, and vulnerability remediation. Experience implementing security tooling and controls within automated delivery pipelines. Hands-on experience with container technologies, including Docker and Kubernetes. Strong scripting and automation skills using PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar languages. Experience with monitoring, observability, incident management, and platform reliability practices. Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in highly collaborative, cross-functional environments.

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, or the equivalent combination of education and experience. Typically requires 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, platform engineering, site reliability engineering, or related technical disciplines. 5+ years of hands-on experience supporting production workloads in Microsoft Azure. Experience building and operating enterprise-scale CI/CD platforms and cloud infrastructure. Experience implementing cloud security controls and DevSecOps practices within regulated or security-conscious environments preferred. Microsoft Azure certifications (Azure Solutions Architect, Azure Security Engineer, Azure DevOps Engineer, or equivalent) strongly preferred. Experience with Microsoft Foundry, Azure AI Services, Azure OpenAI, or related AI platform technologies strongly preferred.

Preferred Experience

Experience supporting AI, machine learning, or generative AI platforms. Experience operating in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, healthcare, or other regulated environments. Experience establishing engineering standards and platform governance across multiple development teams.
