Job summary

StepStone Group is seeking a Senior Associate for AI Deployment & Production to join the Applied Engineering Solutions team. You will elevate Python code quality, own production frameworks for AI solutions, and implement robust APIs, async workflows, and data models.

You will also apply C/C++/Rust to optimize hot paths, mentor engineers, review code, and partner with research teams to ensure reliable, scalable production systems across private market analytics and data platforms.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer science, Engineering, a quantitative field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 6+ years of software/data engineering with production ownership and leadership.
• Expert Python with production-ready code, testing, packaging, and scalable production experience.
• Production experience with Celery, Flask, and SQLAlchemy.
• Proficiency in a low-level language (C, C++, or Rust) for optimization.
• Ability to lead code reviews and mentor a team.
• Strong communication and Jira coordination with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Review AI research projects and raise the quality of their Python code design.
• Build out the production framework for AI solutions with a robust API and async flows.
• Take research code to scalable production, ensuring quality before release.
• Apply low-level languages to optimize performance-critical paths as needed.
• Lead optimization of PHP workloads or re-architect so Python owns business logic.
• Partner with QA to define tests and acceptance criteria; monitor AI pipelines.
• Contribute to shared frameworks and DevOps practices (GitHub Actions, Helm).
• Mentor analysts and associates and act as a senior reviewer for AI work.
