Job summary

Intuit, Inc. seeks a Distinguished Engineer to steer the technical and scientific direction of Intuit Intelligence. You will blend AI science with hands-on agent development to solve customer problems and deliver reusable intelligent foundations.

Expect to contribute at least 40% of your time to experiments, prototypes, evaluation, and production problem-solving while collaborating across research, product, security, and engineering teams to scale impactful AI capabilities.

Qualifications

• Deep expertise in AI science and ML with rigorous evaluation.
• Production AI systems and agents that perform consequential workflows.
• Foundation models, retrieval, tool use, agent orchestration.
• Ability to distinguish model improvements from system reliability and outcomes.
• Record translating research into scalable products and reusable capabilities.
• Strong software and systems engineering judgment to guide direction.
• Ability to explain scientific uncertainty and tradeoffs to executives.

Responsibilities

• Define the long-term AI and ML strategy aligned to customer needs and production constraints.
• Architect and build agents that reason over context, retrieve information, use tools, and coordinate workflows.
• Establish reusable approaches for orchestration, context/memory, and recovery from failures.
• Guide model selection, adaptation, training, and inference with evidence and tradeoffs.
• Build evaluation systems for quality, task completion, robustness, safety, and customer value.
• Establish production practices for monitoring, experimentation, lifecycle management and improvement.
• Address grounding, uncertainty, generalization, permissions, privacy, and reliable execution.
• Develop firsthand judgment through research and implementation; mentor senior engineers.
