Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Senior Agentic AI Engineer - Conversational AI to design, develop, and deliver enterprise-grade AI solutions. You will lead cross-functional teams, shape architecture, and implement scalable, production-ready AI applications using AWS Bedrock and related tools.

About the Role

As a Senior Agentic AI Engineer - Conversational AI you will make an impact by designing, developing, and delivering enterprise-grade conversational and agentic AI solutions that drive business outcomes for our clients. You will be a valued member of a global engineering team, collaborating with architects, developers, QA teams, product stakeholders, and business leaders to build scalable AI-powered applications leveraging modern cloud technologies and large language models.

In This Role, You Will:

Lead onshore and offshore development teams while driving hands‑on development, solution design, and architecture based on client requirements. You will also collaborate closely with QA and UAT teams to support testing, resolve issues, and ensure successful project delivery.

What You Must Have to Be Considered

• 10-14 years of experience in software engineering, solution design, and technical leadership with demonstrated success delivering enterprise‑scale conversational AI or Generative AI solutions.

Conversational AI & Agentic AI Platforms

• AWS Lex or Any Other Deterministic Bot
• AWS Bedrock and Bedrock AgentCore
• AWS Strands SDK / Framework
• Voice Bot and Chat Bot development
• Agentic AI application development and orchestration
• Intent modeling, conversation design, prompt engineering, and NLU concepts
• LLM application development, tool calling, function calling, and agent workflows

Cloud & Infrastructure

• Strong hands‑on experience with AWS services including:
• Amazon Bedrock
• Bedrock AgentCore
• AWS Lambda
• Amazon S3
• DynamoDB
• API Gateway
• IAM
• CloudWatch
• Knowledge of secure AI/LLM deployment patterns and cloud‑native agent architectures - Will be a Plus

Generative AI & Agent Engineering

• Hands‑on experience building production‑grade Generative AI applications using Amazon Bedrock.
• Experience developing and orchestrating AI agents using Bedrock AgentCore and AWS Strands.
• Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks, tool integrations, and multi‑agent workflows.
• Experience implementing Retrieval‑Augmented Generation (RAG) architectures(Optional)
• Experience with prompt engineering, model evaluation, grounding, and agent performance tuning.
• Experience securing enterprise AI agents including guardrails, prompt injection mitigation, data protection, access controls, and responsible AI controls.
• Experience optimizing LLM agents for accuracy, latency, scalability, reliability, observability, and cost efficiency.
• Experience monitoring and troubleshooting production AI agents and conversational AI systems.

These Will Help You Stand Out

• AWS Certifications such as AWS Certified AI Practitioner, AWS Certified AI Engineer, or equivalent.
• Experience with multi‑agent systems and advanced agent orchestration patterns.
• Experience using AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar development accelerators (One of the tools is a MUST).
• Experience with conversational analytics, agent evaluation frameworks, and bot performance optimization
• Experience implementing Responsible AI, AI governance, compliance, and enterprise AI security controls.

The annual salary for this position is between $110,000 to $130,000 depending on the experience and other qualifications of the candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
