Job summary

Inversion is turning space into a transportation layer by delivering payloads from orbit to Earth within an hour. We seek a Senior Test Engineer to plan and execute critical mechanical test campaigns for advanced reentry systems, collaborating with design, analysis, manufacturing, and external partners.

You will lead test planning, fixture development, and data collection from early development through qualification and production, reporting to the Director of Mechanical.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of professional experience in development testing or mechanical test engineering.
  • Experience developing component and subsystem-level test campaigns for mechanical hardware.
  • Experience writing test plans, procedures, test readiness documentation, and post-test reports.
  • Experience designing test fixtures, adapters, tooling, or GSE for mechanical hardware.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute component, subsystem, and system-level test campaigns.
  • Develop test plans, procedures, and readiness documentation.
  • Coordinate with external test facilities and vendors to define requirements and schedules.
  • Design test fixtures, adapters, and ground support equipment for testing.
  • Lead instrumentation planning and data collection for validation activities.
  • Review results and communicate outcomes in design reviews.
