Placements24 is seeking a Senior Aerospace Systems Engineer for a fully remote role with a leading aerospace innovator.

You will lead the systems engineering lifecycle from concept to validation, define requirements and interfaces, and oversee integration and testing of complex subsystems.

The role emphasizes collaboration across software, hardware and mechanical teams, DO-178C/DO-254 compliance, and modeling with MATLAB/Simulink and Cameo, in a South Africa–based, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in aerospace or related engineering field.
• 7+ years of aerospace systems engineering experience.
• Experience with DO-178C/DO-254 and systems engineering methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the systems engineering lifecycle for new aerospace product development, from concept to deployment.
• Define system requirements, architecture, and interfaces for complex aerospace systems.
• Oversee the integration and testing of subsystems and components.

You will be instrumental in the design, integration, and testing of complex aerospace systems. Key Responsibilities

Requirements

• Proven experience with systems engineering methodologies (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254).
• Strong understanding of aerospace systems, including avionics, propulsion, and structures.
• Proficiency in system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, Cameo).
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly.
• Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment is highly advantageous.
• Familiarity with aerospace standards and regulations.
