Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation seeks a Senior Aerospace Engineer to act as the technical authority for design, development, and testing of advanced aerospace products. You will oversee projects, mentor engineers, and drive innovation in C4ISR and aviation systems.

The role requires a strong background in CFD/FEA, systems engineering, and experience leading cross-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment. Office-based in Lone Tree, CO with travel as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering preferred.

Responsibilities

IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.**Responsibilities:*** Provide technical leadership for the development of complex aerospace systems.* Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams.* Oversee comprehensive analysis and validation testing.* Serve as a subject matter expert in design reviews and technical discussions.* Develop and implement engineering best practices and standards.* Foster relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners.* Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation and improvement.**Qualifications You Must Have:*** Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.* 10+ years of relevant experience.* Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.* Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.* Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).* Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.**Qualifications We Prefer:*** Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.* Certification in Systems Engineering or related field.* Exposure to Engineering Simulation such Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis using tools such as StarCCM+ or CFD++.* Understanding of aircraft external loads, aircraft performance and stability and control.* Familiarity with wind tunnel and aircraft flight test.* Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.* Understanding of system-level static and dynamic modeling and simulation.* Exposure to aircraft stability principles and control system design and analysis.* Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, fundamentals of flight mechanics.* Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.**Essential Functions:*** Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.* Ability to travel up to 10%.* Work in an office or hybrid environment.This posting will be open for application for a minimum of 5 days and may be extended based on business needs.Estimated Starting Salary Range: $124,771.42 - $171,560.71. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.
