Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation in Englewood, CO seeks a Senior Aerospace Engineer to serve as a technical authority in the design, development, and testing of advanced aerospace products and systems. You will lead multi-disciplinary teams, oversee validation testing, and mentor engineers.

This hybrid role requires a strong background in CFD/FEA, systems engineering, and experience with aviation programs. Security clearance eligibility is required; travel up to 10% is possible.

Qualifications

IAS tailors solutions to customer cost, performance, and schedule requirements and designs to consistently exceed expectations – with an unrivaled record of on time and on (or under) budget deliveries.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical leadership for the development of complex aerospace systems.
  • Lead and coordinate multi-disciplinary engineering teams.

  • Serve as a subject matter expert in design reviews and technical discussions.
  • Develop and implement engineering best practices and standards.
  • Foster relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry partners.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities for innovation and improvement.
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field.
  • 10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations and Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
Qualifications We Prefer
  • Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering.
  • Certification in Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Exposure to Engineering Simulation such Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and Thermal Analysis using tools such as StarCCM+ or CFD++.
  • Understanding of aircraft external loads, aircraft performance and stability and control.
  • Familiarity with wind tunnel and aircraft flight test.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • Understanding of system-level static and dynamic modeling and simulation.
  • Exposure to aircraft stability principles and control system design and analysis.
  • Knowledge of industry standard aerospace principles, to include, but not limited to parametric design, model-based definition, fundamentals of flight mechanics.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Essential Functions
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Ability to travel up to 10%.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $124,771.42 - $171,560.71.

Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors, such as candidates' key skills, relevant work experience, and education/training/certifications.

The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.

SNC offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
