A day in the lifeIt’s 7:30 a.m. You’re on the floor reviewing overnight CMM runs. A subtle capability shift in a critical feature catches your eye. By 8:15, you’ve huddled with Manufacturing and Engineering at the machine to verify setup, confirm measurement strategy, and adjust the control plan. Before lunch, your updated CMM program and revised inspection plan are validated, and SPC charts are trending back in control. The afternoon is dedicated to closing an 8D on a customer escape—your 5-Why and Fishbone analysis have traced the root cause to a missed variation source, and your corrective actions are already preventing recurrence.Your focusCreate, optimize, and troubleshoot CMM programs; elevate inspection strategy and measurement system capability.Analyze CMM/inspection data to uncover trends, variation, and emerging manufacturing risks.Develop and improve Control Plans, inspection plans, PFMEAs, and process-control documentation.Leverage SPC and process capability studies to drive stable, predictable processes.Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Manufacturing and Engineering to eliminate defects at the source.Lead MRB and NCR/NCM activities, overseeing containment, disposition, and customer communication where required.Use structured problem solving (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) to confirm true root cause and verify effectiveness.Execute CAPAs that reduce scrap, rework, defects, and customer escapes.Ensure adherence to AS9100D, AS13100, customer specs, and the internal QMS.About you7+ years as a Quality Engineer in manufacturing, ideally aerospace or precision machining.Hands-on CMM programming and dimensional inspection experience—comfortable on the shop floor.Expertise in GD&T and complex print interpretation.Proficiency with SPC, capability analysis, root-cause tools, and corrective action frameworks.FAI/AS9102 knowledge and execution experience.Working knowledge of AS9100 and aerospace quality requirements.Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or related technical discipline preferred.Where you’ll thriveAt a well-established precision manufacturer serving the aerospace sector, your analytical rigor and floor presence make the difference. You’ll translate metrology data into decisive action—improving quality, preventing recurrence, and building processes that stay in control.
