Job summary

PerkinElmer in Richmond is seeking a Sr. Technician for HTP Aerosol & Flavor Analytics to independently perform advanced sample preparation and laboratory support for aerosol extraction and flavor analytics testing at a client site in VA.

This ISO 17025 accredited production laboratory role requires mentoring technicians, ensuring safety, keeping LIMS up to date, and maintaining quality documentation while contributing to an End-to-End Laboratory Modernization program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2+ years of relevant laboratory or manufacturing experience.
• OR Associate degree in a science‑related field with 1+ years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and mentor others in a regulated laboratory environment.
• Adaptable, self‑motivated, and capable of managing multiple concurrent prep tasks with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

• Carry out aerosol extraction on aerosolization machines under direct supervision.
• Collect aerosol on pads or impingers; prepare samples for downstream chemical analysis.
• Perform sample preparation duties including weighing, digesting, shaking, and dissolving.
• Perform routine instrument and machine maintenance.
• Record and report data; maintain laboratory notebooks and LIMS entries.
• Follow established methods, SOPs, and work instructions.
• Maintain training and compliance in health and safety, security, environmental and operational aspects of daily activities in the working environment.
• Train and provide day-to-day guidance to Technician staff on prep procedures, SOPs, and safe work practices.
• Perform basic troubleshooting of routine preparation equipment and elevate complex issues appropriately.
• Perform quality checks on completed prep work prior to hand-off for analysis.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and well‑stocked work area, including routine housekeeping and supply inventory.
