Advanced Manufacturing Engineer – Sidney, Ohio

Join Copeland’s Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (AME) group as a Senior Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineer focusing on CNC machining and manufacturing optimization. This role is based at the Sidney, OH campus and supports manufacturing strategic initiatives across regional facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead new product development and production launch readiness for component machining.
  • Identify critical product characteristics and assess technical feasibility to establish manufacturing investment and production costing.
  • Lead regional strategic capital investment projects, specifying, procuring, and implementing new manufacturing equipment, work holding, tooling, and gauging systems.
  • Develop and utilize digital technologies for manufacturing component designs, performing CNC machine simulations to validate layouts, functional performance, and production output rates.
  • Create and modify CNC programs to manufacture products to drawing dimensions and tolerances, leveraging digital simulation and best practices to optimize quality and productivity.
  • Drive cost reductions and continuous improvements of production automation and manufacturing processes using lean principles aligned with manufacturing strategies.
  • Provide project and status updates to senior leadership.
  • Help drive innovation and implementation of advanced manufacturing technology.
Required Experience & Skills
  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering (or related field) with 3+ years of applicable experience.
  • Intermediate to advanced CNC machine programming knowledge and experience.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings with understanding of GD&T principles and apply them to machining processes.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, organizational, planning, and communication skills with ability to handle multiple projects concurrently.
  • Strong understanding and application of Quality and Lean tools such as Process Capability, Statistical Analysis, Structured Problem‑Solving, PFMEA, and Gauge R&R.
  • Experience working with 3D CAD software (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, Inventor).
  • Ability to travel approximately 20%.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States; sponsorship will not be provided.
Preferred Experience & Skills
  • Five or more years of relevant experience with a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Knowledge and experience machining cast iron.
  • Experience with highly automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience programming and operating industrial robots.
  • Experience with Siemens NX 3D modeling.
  • Experience with CAM programming and machine simulation software (e.g., Siemens CAM, Vericut).
  • Experience with Teamcenter PLM software.
  • Formal Lean and SPC training or certification.
Location

Sidney, OH – fully onsite; not eligible for hybrid or remote work.
