Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace seeks a Senior Advanced Combustion Engineer in the Combustor design group to lead combustion analysis, testing, and customer-facing support for engine programs and Advanced Technology projects.

You will report to the Senior Engineering Manager and work from the Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid schedule, collaborating with global teams to develop robust engineering processes and new business opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics.
• 6 or more years of relevant experience in lieu of advanced degrees.
• MS or PhD valued with related years of experience.
• Working understanding of gas turbine combustion design and pollutant modeling.
• Experience with CFD tools and turbulence modeling.
• Familiarity with thermo-mechanical fatigue, creep and erosion.
• Proficiency with Ansys Fluent, Star-CCM+, and NX.

Responsibilities

• Combustion design and optimization for gas turbine engines.
• Conduct combustion analysis and testing (rig/engine).
• Perform CFD analyses using Fluent or StarCCM+.
• Carry out thermal and finite element analyses (ANSYS Workbench).
• Develop tools and methods; provide technical resolutions.
• Support manufacturing, installation and field activities.
• Evaluate equipment and provide technical consultancy.
• Ensure project and product compliance; manage risk.

Job description

As a Senior Advanced Combustion Engineer in the Combustor design group at Honeywell Aerospace, you will use your expert knowledge of engineering discipline and standards, processes and tools to support our engine programs and Advanced Technology projects. You will be responsible for helping to lead our combustor analysis and test activities while helping to support production and our hardware in the field. You are the point of contact for external customers and will help to develop and define engineering processes in your area of expertise. You may participate in development of new business opportunities and product lines.

You will report to our Senior Engineering Manager and you'll work out of our Phoenix, AZ location on a hybrid work schedule.

Qualifications

YOU MUST HAVE

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a technical discipline such as the sciences, technology, engineering or mathematics
• 6 or more years of relevant experience in lieu of relevant advanced degrees

• Working understanding of gas turbine combustion design
• Working understanding of reacting flows, pollutant modeling, computational fluid dynamics and turbulence
• Working understanding of thermo-mechanical fatigue, creep, crack propagation and erosion
• Working proficiency of Ansys Mechanical, Ansy Fluent, Siemens NX
• Advanced Engineering Certifications

• Effectively operate in a matrix organization
• Experience working in global teams across time zones
• Track record of successful contribution to products & projects
