Job summary

StarKist Co. in Reston, VA, is seeking a Senior Administrator, Accounts Receivable to support payments, deductions and collections and to partner with internal and external customers.

You will manage timely payments, resolve discrepancies, monitor aging, and collaborate with sales and customer service. A Bachelor’s degree is preferred and SAP and Excel skills are desirable.

• 3–5 years of Accounts Receivable experience in a medium-to-large manufacturer.
• Experience managing Amazon accounts preferred.
• Proficient in Excel/Office programs.

Responsibilities

• Process payments including checks, wires, and ACH to correct accounts and invoices.
• Identify and resolve payment discrepancies by contacting customers or internal teams.
• Research and process deductions with appropriate codes at posting.
• Collaborate with Customer Service and Logistics to dispute non-trade deductions.
• Maintain deduction tracking for open/closed claims.
• Monitor AR aging and collect past due balances; update AR aging reports.
• Support Weekly AR Accounts Reviews and participate in credit reviews.

PURPOSE -

• To support the Accounts Receivable department in processing payments, deductions and collections. Communicates and builds a strong partnership with internal and external customers.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES –

• Timely payment process, including checks, wire transfers, ACH payments to the correct customer accounts and invoices.
• Identify, research, and resolve payment discrepancies, such as short payments or unapplied cash, by contacting customers or internal teams for clarification.
• Research and process all deductions with their appropriate code type upon payment posting.
• Research, validate and dispute non-trade related deductions by working closely with Customer Service and Logistics partners.
• Obtain supporting back-up documentation from brokers, customers and/or carriers to validate claims.
• Resolves invalid or unauthorized deductions by following deductions procedures.
• Maintain deduction tracking of all open and closed claim for assigned accounts.
• Monitor Accounts Receivable daily, identify and collect on past due balances, resolve billing issues and keep an updated Accounts Receivable Aging Report.
• Update weekly Trade, Non-trade and AR aging reports. Review and provide updates on collection matters and progress on the validation process of Trade and Non-trade deductions.
• Collaborate with other departments, such as sales or customer service, to resolve billing or payment issues.
• Verifies validity of account discrepancies by obtaining and investigating information from sales, trade promotions, customer service departments and from customers.
• Participate in Weekly AR Accounts Reviews.
• Perform Credit Reviews
• Perform other functions as required by the position and assist Manager as necessary to meet department objectives.

KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE/COMPETENCIES -

• Prior experience managing Amazon accounts is strongly preferred.
• 3 to 5 years of experience in Accounts Receivable in a medium-to-large consumer products manufacturer preferred.
• Experience in SAP software preferred.
• Proficiency in excel/other Office programs.
• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field preferred.
• Knowledge of corporate policies and procedures.
• Problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to maintain close, productive relationships with Customers.
• Demonstrated success in achieving team objectives.
• Positive demeanor; can-do attitude; good communication and people skills.

The approximate pay range for this position is $62K to $76K. This range is provided as a good faith estimate at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills, abilities, and geographic location.
