Job summary

Nationwide Mutual Insurance Company is seeking an experienced Senior Actuarial Consultant to join the NF Actuarial team. This role focuses on Group Health and Employer Stop Loss valuation and provides insights to support financial reporting and business strategy.

You will analyze claims data, establish reserves, and communicate complex results to leaders and partners. Ideal candidates have 4–7 years of actuarial experience, ASA or progress toward FSA, and strong Excel/Tableau skills.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate degree in actuarial science or related field.
• ASA or comparable credential with progress toward FSA encouraged.
• 4–7 years actuarial experience in valuation, reserving, or reporting.

Responsibilities

• Perform monthly and quarterly claims analysis, loss valuation, and reserve calculations.
• Construct, maintain, and enhance actuarial projection, valuation, and financial reporting models.
• Support statutory valuation activities, reinsurance analysis and pricing.
• Analyze complex data sets to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
• Communicate actuarial conclusions to business leaders and cross-functional partners.
• Lead or participate in cross-functional reviews to improve quality and collaboration.
