Job summary

Texas DPS Credit Union in Austin, TX is seeking an Accounting Coordinator / Senior Accountant to manage day-to-day accounting operations and technical accounting processes. You will work closely with the Controller to ensure accurate ledgers, journal entries, and timely month-end close.

This role requires hands-on accounting leadership, reconciliation expertise, and the ability to improve procedures, controls, and documentation. Hybrid work arrangement after training period is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; equivalent education/experience may be considered.
• Five+ years of progressively responsible accounting experience in a credit union or financial institution preferred.
• Strong GL accounting, reconciliations, journal entries, month-end/year-end close, and financial reporting support.
• Experience resolving complex reconciliation differences and discrepancies.
• Proficiency in Excel and MS Office; familiarity with accounting software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general ledger integrity and prepare complex reconciliations.
• Research and resolve discrepancies and out-of-balance conditions.
• Prepare, review, and post journal entries, accruals and adjustments.
• Manage month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities.
• Coordinate accounts payable processes and related reconciliations.
• Provide accounting reports and financial information for management.
