Vanguard is seeking a strategic and technically skilled Senior Accounting Policy Analyst to serve as a subject matter expert in financial accounting and reporting. This role is ideal for a CPA with deep expertise in GAAP, IFRS, and regulatory frameworks who thrives in a consultative, think tank-style environment. Rather than performing operational accounting tasks, you will advise internal teams, shape accounting policy, and influence enterprise-wide strategic outcomes. Your insights will help guide complex decisions, ensure compliance, and align accounting standards with Vanguard’s broader objectives.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee complex global accounting and financial reporting policies.
• Provide strategic guidance and technical accounting expertise to internal stakeholders across the enterprise.
• Conduct in-depth research on GAAP, IFRS, and SEC regulations, and communicate findings to leadership and auditors.
• Lead cross-functional initiatives and manage projects that align accounting practices with business goals.
• Monitor emerging accounting standards and regulatory changes, assessing their impact on Vanguard.
• Represent Vanguard in industry forums, contribute to comment letters, and participate in regulatory discussions.
• Design and deliver accounting policy training to staff and leadership.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in financial accounting and reporting, with a focus on policy and advisory.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required; Master’s degree preferred.
• Active CPA (or equivalent international designation such as CGMA or Chartered Accountant).
• Deep knowledge of GAAP, IFRS, SEC regulations, and SOX compliance.
• Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
• Exceptional analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
• Experience advising on complex accounting issues and implementing policy changes.
• Must be located within a commutable distance to Vanguard’s Malvern & Wayne, PA campuses.
