Job summary

8020 Consulting in Dallas–Fort Worth seeks an Accounting Professional (Manager or above) to join our growing team. You’ll serve as a trusted advisor to CFOs, Controllers, private equity sponsors, and executive leadership, solving complex accounting, finance, and systems challenges.

The ideal candidate will quickly understand a client’s environment, lead the accounting function and related ERP transformations, and deliver meaningful improvements with minimal travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 7+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience at the Manager, Senior Manager, Controller, Assistant Controller, or similar level.
• Significant construction industry experience required.
• Strong understanding of construction accounting, including job costing, WIP, project accounting, revenue recognition, and financial reporting.
• Demonstrated experience leading accounting teams and partnering with operational and executive leadership.
• Strong ERP/accounting systems experience, with ability to evaluate systems, identify gaps, and drive improvements.
• Proven experience with ERP implementations, accounting system conversions, integrations, or major system upgrades.
• Experience leading or supporting finance and accounting process improvement and transformation initiatives.
• Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, month-end close, financial reporting, internal controls, and accounting operations.
• Ability to work hands-on in complex or evolving environments and quickly establish structure, processes, and priorities.
• CPA or other relevant professional designation preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an interim Controller or senior accounting leader for construction/project-based organizations.
• Lead accounting transformations, system implementations, and process improvements.
• Strengthen job costing, WIP, project accounting, and financial reporting processes.
• Oversee ERP implementations, system conversions, and finance technology initiatives.
• Evaluate existing accounting systems and recommend improvements, integrations, and automation opportunities.
• Manage system implementations from requirements gathering to go-live with vendors.
