Kainos Innovative Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking an experienced Assistant Controller/Sr Accountant to lead accounting operations in a fast-growing, multi-division environment. This hands-on role works with the Controller and CFO to ensure accurate financial reporting, strong controls, and process improvements, with a clear path toward a Controller position as the company scales.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience.
• Experience as a Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager, or similar senior role.
• Strong GAAP, financial reporting, GL, close, reconciliations, and internal controls.
• Experience overseeing AP, AR, payroll, and general accounting operations.
• Multi-division, construction, project-based, or WIP experience preferred.
• Strong ERP/accounting systems and process improvement experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
• Able to work independently in a fast-paced, growing organization.

Responsabilités

• Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close.
• Maintain GL integrity, reconciliations, and reporting.
• Support multi-division and consolidated reporting.
• Oversee AP, AR, payroll, cash, and general accounting.
• Strengthen accounting policies, internal controls, and SOPs.
• Support audits, tax requirements, and compliance.
• Analyze job costs, WIP, margins, and profitability.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, and KPIs.
• Improve ERP workflows, reporting, automation, and processes.
• Partner with operations to improve financial visibility and decision-making.
• Provide guidance and oversight to accounting team.
• Take on broader leadership towards the Controller role.
