Job summary

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) is seeking Accounting Analysts/Senior Accounting Analysts for the General Accounting area to support LI Rail Road financial statement preparation, journal entries, reconciliations, and reporting. You will ensure completeness of records, assist with audits, and develop reporting databases for management review.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of accounting systems and procedures (e.g., PeopleSoft).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel with pivot tables and VLOOKUPs.
• Strong numeric, analytic, and deductive reasoning capabilities.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in month-end and annual close; prepare general ledger analyses and journal entries.
• Interface data with PeopleSoft and resolve accounting issues.
• Reconcile interagency accounts and analyze claims activity.
• Prepare monthly rental revenue and payroll journal entries.
• Support year-end financial statement issuance and audits.
