Job summary

SMG System Medical Group is seeking an experienced accounting professional to support WVU Medicine’s budget process and financial operations. The role analyzes departmental costs, reconciles ledgers, reviews billing, and conducts productivity analysis to support the organization.

The position requires collaborative work with department managers, strong Excel skills, and leadership of accounting staff. A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and 3 years of accounting experience are required; CPA

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field.
• Three (3) years of accounting experience.
• CPA preferred.
• Hospital based or healthcare accounting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong relationships with Department managers to coordinate and monitor financial controls over cost centers per budget guidelines.
• Coordinate accounting and financial processes to maximize efficiency in daily operations and ensure internal controls.
• Maintain general ledger and submit accurate data during month-end per deadlines.
• Lead and coordinate month-end variance analysis.
• Oversee month-end general ledger reconciliations.
• Oversee and develop assigned Accounting Department staff.
• Delegate projects to staff to meet department goals.
• Develop and submit analytical financial data for department leadership.
• Assist in compiling financial support documentation for budget and external audits.
• Assist in coordinating budget and external audit reviews.
• Train new personnel and monitor progress.
• Participate in educational opportunities offered by the hospital.
• Support performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
• Ensure timely completion of duties including monthly and consolidated financial statements.

This position performs wide range of financial functions to support WVU Medicine and the budget process. This position performs departmental analysis and reconciliations, billing, accounts receivable analysis, related contract maintenance for department services, and performs various productivity analysis.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE:
