Job summary

Alera Group is seeking a Senior Accountant – Employee Benefits to support clients remotely across PA, MD, DE, and VA. You’ll deliver proactive client service, handle commissions, billing, and accounts payable, and contribute to accurate month‑end close within a collaborative team.

You’ll partner with cross‑functional teams, ensure compliance, and drive meaningful insights through accurate financial processing and reporting, enabling better benefits strategy for clients and a high‑touch

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3+ years experience in staff/senior accounting or commission accounting roles.
• Strong knowledge of commissions, billing, and accounts payable processes.
• Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and MS Office.
• Experience with CRM, commission processing, or accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Support strategic finance initiatives to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
• Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure consistent financial operations.
• Manage commission processing, agency billing, producer compensation, and AP workflows.
• Process and reconcile commissions, fees, reimbursements, and expenses for GL posting.
• Analyze commission data and reports to identify discrepancies and errors; coordinate resolutions.
• Prepare and distribute commission statements and payroll reporting related to commissions and bonuses.
• Assist with month-end close for agency-level accounting records.
• Support accounts receivable activities including invoicing and tracking balances.
• Assist with carrier setup, credentialing, and compliance activities.
