Job summary

Nova Asset Management, Inc. is seeking a Senior Accountant with a construction/real estate and property management background to oversee our accounting operations in Houston.

The ideal candidate will have CPA credentials and strong GAAP knowledge, capable of managing month-end closes, financial statements, and audits. The role involves reconciling accounts, improving processes, and providing financial insight across multiple product lines.

Qualifications

• CPA license is required.
• Experience overseeing general accounting operations and month-end close.
• Proven ability to analyze financial reports and forecasts.
• Construction/real estate/property management background a plus.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP.

Responsibilities

• Verify, allocate, post and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
• Produce error-free accounting reports and present their results
• Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
• Spot errors and suggest ways to improve efficiency and spending
• Provide technical support and advice on Management accountant
• Review and recommend modifications to accounting systems and procedures
• Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
• Participate in financial standards setting and in the forecast process
• Provide input into the department’s goal-setting process
• Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
• Assist with tax audits and tax returns
• Direct internal and external audits to ensure compliance
• Support month-end and year-end close process
• Support the tax functions
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with GAAP principles
• Liaise with our Financial manager and Accounting manager to improve financial procedures
