Job summary

Nienhuis Financial Group is seeking a Senior Accountant to oversee accounting operations for client engagements, ensuring financial compliance and timely reporting. The role involves monthly, quarterly, and annual statements, general ledger maintenance, and coordination with auditors.

Day travel to Grandville and Kalamazoo areas may be required to meet client needs; the ideal candidate has 3-5 years in accounting, strong managerial accounting background, and proficiency in Excel and accounting

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of general financial accounting and cost accounting.
• Understanding of GAAP and financial reporting.
• Proficient with accounting software.
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Maintain the general ledger.
• Code invoices, set up new accounts, reconcile accounts, and close the monthly books.
• Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks.
• Reconcile customer accounts.
• Verify payment of invoices associated with accounts payable and ensure payments are charged to the appropriate accounts.
• Provide outside auditors with assistance; gather necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.
• Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies.
• Depending on client needs may assist or complete the following: payroll, manage fixed assets, prepare and/or adjust trial balances, Comp and Review.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
