Job summary

The State of South Dakota’s Department of Health - Division of Finance & Operations in Pierre seeks an Accountant who will manage high level fiscal responsibilities, including contracts, RFPs, and overseeing federal draws for more than 50 grants. A four-year degree in accounting/finance or related field is required, with 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience.

Knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and MS Excel/Word is essential.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or business management.
• GAAP knowledge, standards, and practices.
• 3-5 years progressive experience equivalent to Accountant/Auditor II with 4-7 years cumulative in the career band.

Responsibilities

• Manage high level fiscal responsibilities for the Department of Health.
• Prepare, review, and execute contracts and RFPs.
• Process and track accounts receivable and oversee federal draws for >50 grants.
• Lead subrecipient monitoring and ensure federal compliance.
