Job summary

ImmunityBio is seeking a Senior Accountant, General Ledgers, to manage accounting policies and controls for general ledgers across the organization. The role focuses on monthly close, journal entries, and financial statement preparation in a fast-paced biotech environment.

You will ensure GAAP compliance, drive process improvements, and support audits and ERP initiatives. On-site roles available in CA with discretionary bonus potential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field required.
  • 3+ years of related experience with progressively greater responsibilities required.
  • In-depth understanding of GAAP and accounting experience required.
  • Experience with financial data analysis and preparation of financial reports required.
  • Public company experience is a plus.
  • Public accounting audit experience is a plus. Biotech/pharmaceutical industry experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries and reconciliations (leases, payables/receivables, fixed assets, intangibles, accruals, prepaids, license fees).
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and disclosures for internal and external use.
  • Maintain fixed assets; record acquisitions/disposals, depreciation, impairment review.
  • Ensure SOX compliance and assist with new accounting policies.
  • Lead balance sheet/income statement variance analysis and audits.

Position Summary

The Senior Accountant, General Ledgers, will be responsible for the accounting policies, procedures and controls associated with general ledgers across the organization.

Essential Functions
  • Preparation of monthly journal entries/reconciliations relating to accounts such as leases, accounts payable and receivables, fixed assets, intangibles, accruals, prepaid expenses and license fees, and other areas assigned.
  • Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and applicable disclosures for both internal and external presentation.
  • Full maintenance of Fixed assets including but not limited to: record fixed asset acquisitions and dispositions, reconcile balances in the fixed asset subsidiary ledger to the general ledger, calculate depreciation for all fixed assets, investigate potential obsolescence, and conduct periodic impairment reviews.
  • Remain current with GAAP standards and assist in the assessment and implementation of significant new accounting guidance and policies across the organization.
  • Balance sheet and income statement variance analysis.
  • Perform ad hoc projects as determined by senior management (i.e., ERP implementations)
  • Ensures SOX compliance across accounting functions as part of the day- to- day operational accounting responsibilities.
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures and ensures consistency of policies/procedures across the company (with deviations as appropriate).
  • Contribute to process improvements in company activities to enhance accounting/finance operational efficiency.
  • Support enhancements to financial processes aiming for increased efficiency and scalability.
  • Manage the internal and external audit requests providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Support internal controls to safeguard the company's assets and prevent fraud.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with emphasis in accounting required.
  • 3+ years of related experience with progressively greater responsibilities required.
  • In- depth understanding of GAAP and accounting experience required
  • Experience with financial data analysis and preparation of financial reports required
  • Public companies experience is a plus.
  • Public accounting audit experience is a plus.Experience in the biotech or pharmaceutical industry is a plus.

Working Environment / Physical Environment
  • This position works on site in El Segundo, CA or Torrey Pines, CA.
  • Regular work schedule is Monday - Friday, within standard business hours. Flexibility is available with manager approval.
  • Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer.
  • Lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds.

This position is eligible for a discretionary bonus and equity award. The annual base pay range for this position is below. The specific rate will depend on the successful candidate's qualifications, prior experience as well as geographic location.

$117,000 (entry- level qualifications) to $128,500 (highly experienced) annually
