Job summary

The San Antonio Zoo is seeking a Senior Accountant to maintain accurate financial records, support timely reporting, and uphold GAAP across all ledgers. You will partner with Finance and operations to strengthen controls and drive efficiencies.

Ideal candidates have a Bachelor's in Accounting, 5+ years of accounting experience, and strong Excel skills. Nonprofit or zoo/arts accounting experience is a plus; experience with ERP systems is preferred. This is an on-site role in San Antonio.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• Minimum of five years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and close activities.
• Support month-end and year-end close and financial statement prep.
• Maintain fixed asset accounting and depreciation schedules.
• Analyze financial activity and report variances to management.
• Ensure internal controls and GAAP-compliant reporting across ledgers.
• Collaborate with Accounts Payable/Receivable, Payroll, and departments to resolve queries.
