Job summary

State of South Carolina invites applications for a Senior Accountant / Fiscal Analyst in the Financial Services Division. This position focuses on a broad range of accounting duties, including journal entries, auditing support, and complex financial analyses drawn from SAP and Acumatica data to support management decisions.

The candidate should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field and at least two years of professional accounting experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required; two years of professional accounting-related experience.
• Master's degree may substitute for required work experience.
• Working knowledge of GAAP & GASB standards; proficient in financial statement analysis and reconciliations.

Responsibilities

• Perform and direct a wide variety of accounting, auditing, reconciliation, analysis and reporting work to ensure accurate agency accounting and reporting.
• Assist with billings, posting journal entries, and County Federal Financial Participation analysis; support audits as needed.
• Develop complex financial analyses from SAP and Acumatica data; prepare reports for management and external authorities.
• Prepare/ad hoc analyses of revenues and expenditures; investigate fluctuations and suggest corrective actions.
• Coordinate responses to auditor requests; serve as regional/county contact for audit documentation.
• Lead process improvement efforts within accounting and reporting; advise on efficiency opportunities.
• Counsel county/regional staff on approvals and documentation; report non-compliance to leadership.
• Monitor bank balances; process reimbursements and funds requests; reconcile bank accounts monthly.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
