Job summary

Quincy Credit Union is seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our Finance team. This position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls.

The role includes reviewing entries and reconciliations, preparing statements, and collaborating with departments to resolve issues while identifying opportunities to strengthen internal controls and improve processes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of accounting experience; financial institution experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, financial reporting, and internal controls.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Review and approve journal entries, reconciliations, account classifications, and supporting documentation.
• Prepare and review financial statements, reconciliations, schedules, and reports.
• Analyze general ledger activity, financial results, reserves, assets, liabilities, and variances; identify discrepancies and recommend corrective action.
• Support month-end and year-end close processes and ensure records are accurate, complete, and audit-ready.
• Collaborate with departments to resolve accounting issues and provide guidance on accounting procedures.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes and strengthen internal controls.
• Communicate significant accounting issues and recommendations to management.
• Provide backup support for Accounts Payable Specialist and assist with Finance projects as needed.
